ELAS
In order to complement the present combination of introductory course and tutorials offered by the department with an e-learning environment that offers both formative and summative assessment components, and to provide advanced students with opportunities to develop their e-learning competences, the department has launched the ELAS project (short for E-Learning und E-Assessment in den Sprachwissenschaften, insbesondere der anglistischen Sprachwissenschaft), financed by the university’s Multimediafonds and guided by the following objectives:
(a) Organisation, development and provision of an ONYX-based exercise platform within the OPAL learning environment for participants of the introductory course on English linguistics;
(b) Planning, organisation and instruction of accompanying workshops for adavanced students to familiarise them with OPAL and ONYX features so that they can create own projects;
(c) Designing, implementation, and assessment of an online-based test as the final exam in the introductory course on Synchronic Linguistics.
