A total of 469 seats in the U.S. Congress (34 Senate seats and all 435 House seats) are up for election on November 8, 2022. The midterm elections will decide who controls the House and Senate in the second half of President Biden’s term. Several high-profile gubernatorial races in key battleground states will also be decided. Midterms often serve as a referendum on the administration in power while setting the table for the next presidential elections. Dr. Goldfield will review the Biden administration’s legislative achievements, discuss the history-making nomination of the first female African-American candidate to the Supreme Court and comment on factors such as inflation, the pandemic, and the conflict with Russia and developments in the Democratic and Republican party.
The event is sponsored by the U.S. Consulate General Leipzig and organized and supported by the American Studies team at TU Dresden.
