On the occasion of the XXVI Week of the Italian Language in the World and in collaboration with the Associazione dei Lettori di Italiano nel Mondo (ALIM), an e-book entitled 12 geni italiani incontrano il mondo has been written and will soon be available for free download.
The theme of the initiative is “Lingua geniale: ideare, progettare, creare con l’italiano. Language lecturers have been involved in selecting and exploring twelve emblematic figures from Italian history, with the aim of introducing readers to these personalities and sparking their curiosity. The selected figures include Galileo Galilei, considered the founder of the modern scientific method; Grazia Deledda, the first Italian woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature; and Giacomo Leopardi, one of the most renowned poets in all Italian literature, among others.
The Technische Universität Dresden, particularly its Institute of Romance Studies, participated in the project, taking the opportunity to explore the life and work of Bernardo Bellotto, known as Il Canaletto, the artist behind some of Dresden’s most iconic landscape paintings, including Dresden from the Right Bank of the Elbe below the Augustus Bridge (1748). This contribution was produced entirely by students under the supervision of Professor Anna-Maria Voria.
