Digital event series: Italian Climate Change Fiction
Digital event series: Italian Climate Change Fiction
Climate change, which has particularly significant effects in Italy as well as in all Mediterranean countries, has increasingly become the subject of literary scrutiny since the early 2000s. The novels depict the environmental impacts, which are intertwined with ethical and political issues, often in dystopian scenarios. In this digital event series, we aim to explore this phenomenon with our guests. The authors Laura Pugno and Chiara Mezzalama will discuss Italian CliFi with Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Tiller on 14 November and 19 December, respectively, and provide insights into their novels. The series will be concluded on 23 January with a guest lecture by Prof. Dr Marco Caracciolo (Ghent University) on CliFi in contemporary Italian and English literature.
