Your stay at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. (USA), 2025-26
You will receive a scholarship from Georgetown University of approximately $22,000 for the entire academic year (August 2024 to May 2025), less the cost of health insurance (approximately $4,350/year).
- Tuition waiver (approximately $32,000 per semester).
- You will study at Georgetown University full-time (9 graduate credits per semester) in the Department of German.
- Teacher training students as well as advanced BA students and students in the MA program (LiKWa) can apply.
- In exceptional cases, the exchange can be shortened to one semester (the scholarship will then be halved accordingly).

Application
The application is possible from now until 10.01.2026 .
Required documents:
- Cover letter
- curriculum vitae
- Letter of motivation (1 page)
- List of lectures, exercises and seminars attended on a form with confirmation from the Examination Office
- Copy of the BA certificate if applicable (can be submitted later)
- Written reports from two university lecturers
After successful application:
- Proof of English language proficiency in the form of a corresponding TOEFL or IELTS test result (internet-based TOEFL score min. 80/IELTS min. 7.0), required for the J1 visa
- A writing sample (i.e. a seminar paper or similar to be submitted with your application documents to Georgetown University)
