On this page, first-year students at the ZIS will find all the dates, information, and links they need for a successful start to their studies.
Schedule
The official orientation events for the Center for International Studies (ZIS) are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, on campus in Dresden. The welcome session for bachelor’s students will take place at 9:20 a.m. in room CHE/184. For master’s students, the welcome session will take place at 1:00 p.m. in room CHE/184.

In the week before classes begin, the IB Association (Internationale Beziehungen Dresden e.V.: website, Instagram) offers a varied program to help you get started with your studies. Orientation Week for bachelor’s students begins on October 5, 2026; for master’s students, it begins on October 6, 2026.
Here you will find general information about starting your studies at TU Dresden as well as about the university’s official matriculation ceremony.
In the 2026–27 winter semester, classes begin on October 12, 2026 ( Monday). Here you’ll find more information about the academic calendar for the winter and summer semesters.
Practical Information for Starting Your Studies
All practical information is compiled in the presentation for the orientation session (Bachelor’s orientation session, Master’s orientation session). Please note that the updated presentations for the current enrollment cohorts will only be made available online after the official orientation sessions have taken place.
You can view the Bachelor’s and Master’s course schedules here. Please note that changes may still be made even after the semester begins. Most courses require registration on OPAL; these are specially marked in the course schedule.
