Success at the International TUD|excite Summer School: Albert Baena Regel in the winning team “SaxonLi”
From August 25 to 29, 2025, the International TUD|excite Summer School took place at Hoyerswerda Castle. Under the motto “Patents in Search of New Business,” around 30 young scientists from Europe, Latin America, and India developed viable business models based on real TU Dresden patents. They were mentored by coaches, experts, and regional entrepreneurs.
The week offered a packed program with a keynote speech by Prof. Jörn Block (University of Trier), workshops on the Business Model Canvas, speed dating with patent and transfer experts, input on market validation, and intensive pitch training. Excursions, including to the Zuse Computer Museum, the Smart Mobility Lab, and Lake Geierswalde, as well as networking events with regional stakeholders provided additional inspiration and insights into the structural change in Lusatia.
In the competition finals, the SaxonLi team impressed with their idea for container-based lithium production and won a wildcard for the Dresden accelerator exciteLAB. We congratulate our colleague Albert Baena Regel from the Chair of Environmental Management for this success.
