The Chair of International Management introduces itself
The Chair for International Management at IHI Zittau dedicates its teaching to the special issues arising from the cross-border activities of companies. Both classical topics of International Business such as foreign market entry forms, exchange rate risks and the coordination of foreign subsidiaries as well as management-specific, business administration and intercultural skills are highlighted in the general compulsory area of the curriculum. In addition, in the special elective area of International Management, skills in econometrics are taught and insights into current research topics in the discipline of International Management are provided.
The main research field of the Chair of International Management is the analysis of success factors of the internationality of companies. Currently, the mediation effect of economies of scale is an important research topic. Empirical basis of the research efforts are mostly listed stock corporations from large industrial nations. Another important field of research are internationalization processes, in particular market entry strategies in foreign markets.
Within the framework of academic self-administration, the professorship is responsible for the coordination of the study program International Management. This study program is designed to prepare students for the special challenges faced by managers in international companies and institutions. Of particular note are the integrated double-degree programs, in which students can earn a second degree through stays at selected partner universities from Eastern Europe (TU Liberec, Andrassy University Budapest, University of Pardubice, International School of Economics and Politics St. Petersburg, and the Wrocław University of Economics). Not least because of these programs, there is a particularly high degree of interculturality in the relevant courses.
