Teaching Profile
In our teaching, our main focus lies in the coordination and continuous development of the Master's program *International Management*, which is offered in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz. This program addresses the diverse challenges and opportunities that companies face in cross-border activities. It combines core competencies in business administration with specialized knowledge in internationalization, intercultural communication, and communication- and knowledge-based management approaches.
The program is distinguished by its particular emphasis on Central and Eastern Europe, as well as on the regional and global interconnection of markets. In addition to topics such as foreign market entry, strategy, and subsidiary management, students also learn how to address currency and investment risks, intercultural conflicts, and corporate responsibility within an international context. Furthermore, language-based modules and international exchange opportunities – including double-degree options – allow students to deepen their intercultural competencies through hands-on experience.
Our approach integrates academic rigor – for example, through the discussion of current theories and empirical research methods – with strong practical relevance. We draw on a wide range of modules, from project management, logistics, and risk management to international business ethics and organizational development. Within this module catalog, students are free to choose their focus areas and shape their individual profile for the international job market.
Thanks to our research-oriented foundation, the program also lays the groundwork for pursuing a doctoral degree. Together with our teaching and research team, we support students and external partners in addressing academic questions related to cross-border business activities and management approaches. This regularly results in collaborations with industry partners as well as scientific publications that reflect current trends and developments in international management.
Last but not least, we see ourselves as a hub for the exchange of knowledge and experience between academia and the business community in the tri-border region of Germany–Poland–Czech Republic – and beyond. Those who study or conduct research with us benefit from close personal support, intercultural learning opportunities, and proximity to dynamic, cross-border economic regions.
We look forward to welcoming you to our *International Management* program and to the Chair of International Management – with a special focus on Communication and Knowledge Management!
