Dr. Benedikt Kapteina Presents Research at the Academy of Management Conference in Chicago
Dr. Benedikt D. S. Kapteina, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Chair of Business Management, esp. Responsible Management, at the International Institute Zittau of TU Dresden, presented his latest research findings at this year's Academy of Management (AOM) Conference in Chicago. The AOM Conference, held from August 9 to 13, 2024, is one of the world's leading events in management and corporate governance.
In his presentation titled "Decoding Corporate Support for Democracy: A Study in Eastern Germany," Dr. Kapteina offered in-depth insights into the political role of companies in supporting democratic values. His talk was part of the session "Corporate Political Activity: Conceptual, Quantitative, and Qualitative Insights," where he explored how companies contribute to strengthening democratic decision-making processes through political activities.
The qualitative study, conducted by Dr. Kapteina in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Rolf Brühl of the ESCP Business School Berlin, examined the relationship between Corporate Political Activity (CPA) and Political Corporate Social Responsibility (PCSR). The study highlighted why some companies take a proactive political role and analyzed their moral and economic motivations. Interviews with German CEOs and executives provided valuable insights into corporate political engagement.
"The AOM Conference was an excellent opportunity to present our research to an international audience and gain valuable input for future projects. The exchange with leading experts in CPA and PCSR has opened new perspectives that will further enrich our work," said Dr. Kapteina after his presentation.
The AOM Conference provided a premier platform for interdisciplinary exchange and networking among scholars, practitioners, and students from around the world.
