Dr. Benedikt Kapteina’s Presentation at the SBE Conference in Chicago: Focus on Companies and Democracy
Dr. rer. pol. Benedikt D. S. Kapteina, a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Business Management, esp. Responsible Management, at the International Institute Zittau of TU Dresden since April 2024, presented his latest research findings at this year's Society for Business Ethics (SBE) Conference in Chicago. In his talk, titled "Decoding Corporate Support for Democracy: A Study in Eastern Germany", he examined how companies contribute to the promotion of democratic values through political activities and their involvement in political processes.
Kapteina’s qualitative study explored how companies support democratic decision-making and what investments they make in this area. His focus was on Eastern Germany, where he highlighted innovative approaches to promoting democracy through corporate engagement.
In a particularly noteworthy achievement, Dr. Kapteina was honored as an Emerging Scholar at the conference and received the prestigious Founders’ Award, which is given in recognition of the founding fathers of the society.
“The SBE Conference provided a unique opportunity to present my research to an international audience and gain valuable insights for future projects,” Kapteina said following his presentation.
The Society for Business Ethics is a leading global organization in the field of business ethics. Its annual conference brings together academics, practitioners, and students and serves as a platform for exchanging ideas on current developments and best practices in business ethics.
