Biography

Dr. rer. pol. Benedikt D. S. Kapteina has been working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Chair of Business Administration, particularly in Responsible Management, at IHI Zittau, a Central Scientific Institution of TU Dresden, since April 2024.

His research delves into the realm of "Business Ethics," with a keen focus on areas including "Corporate Political Activity and Responsibility," "Business and Democracy," and "Business and Human Rights." For instance, he investigates the extent to which companies actively foster and support democratic values within society.

Dr. Kapteina's academic journey began with Bachelor's and Master's studies in Economics and Political Science at the Universities of Duesseldorf, Duisburg-Essen, Zurich, and Bonn. His dissertation, completed at the Chair of Business Ethics and Controlling in International Business Administration at ESCP Business School in Berlin, explored the intricate role of companies as political actors and their ensuing responsibilities within society. Additionally, he has cultivated enriching academic experiences at renowned institutions including the University of Florida, the University of Delaware, and Utrecht University.

Moreover, Dr. Kapteina was awarded scholarships by both the Altfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. His scholarly contributions have found their place in international journals such as the European Management Review, European Journal of Management, and LSE Business Review.
