Exploring the Past to Shape a Sustainable Future: Mining and Post-Mining Landscapes at Lake Berzdorf
We, at the Chair of Business Administration, esp. Environmental Management of Internationales Hochschulinstitut (IHI) Zittau (TU Dresden), were delighted to host an insightful event on October 15th, focusing on the transformation of mining landscapes and post-mining rehabilitation at Lake Berzdorf.
The event, part of our "Mining and Biodiversity in Saxony" series, featured guided tours of the historical excavator monument and themed exhibitions on mining history and landscape recultivation. We were honored to welcome the post-mining research group from UNU- FLORES, who contributed valuable perspectives on sustainable development.
A special thank you to the mining associations Bergbaulicher Zeitzeugen Berzdorf-Oberlausitz e.V. and Oberlausitzer Bergleute e.V. for their partnership, and to our translator Rebecca Noelle Smith for ensuring seamless communication.
Let’s continue to learn from the past and shape a more sustainable future together! 🌿
