Biodiversity Management and Sustainability
Module Description
Qualification Goals:
Students understand the importance of biodiversity for sustainable development and the interactions between biodiversity and business. They are familiar with different frameworks and standards of sustainability reporting and are able to critically evaluate them with regard to biodiversity on the basis of corporate reports. The students know the basics of scientific work as well as qualitative methods for the evaluation of corporate reports and reporting standards.
Contents:
- Mission statement development and basic concepts of sustainability.
- Interaction between companies, biodiversity, and ecosystem services
- Reporting frameworks and standards
- GRI principles of reporting quality
- Case studies from the "Biodiversity in Good Company" initiative
- Basics of scientific work
- Qualitative methods, especially case studies and content analysis
