Prof. Dr. Anton Potapov is head of the Soil Zoology Department as well as the Section Soil Food Webs at the Senckenberg Museum of Natural History Görlitz and is a jointly appointed professor at the IHI Zittau of the TU Dresden.

Research

The Department of Soil Zoology joins seven sections, each working on different animal groups or topics: Nematoda, Apterygota, Arachnida, Myriapoda, Oligochaeta, Data Modelling and Soil Food Webs.

The Chair of Soil Biodiversity is part of the close cooperation between TU Dresden's IHI Zittau and the Senckenberg Musem of Natural History Görlitz.

Our research in Görlitz focuses on soil animal communities, their food webs, their participation in soil functions and ecosystem services as well as their dynamics and their natural and anthropogenic drivers.

We have been envolved in teaching for a long time, yet our actitivies are now bundled under the auspices of the IHI Zittau at TU Dresden.
