Our paper with the title "Perceived Roughness of Band-Limited Noise, Single, and Multiple Sinusoids Compared to Recorded Vibration" was accepted for IEEE World Haptics Conference 2019. We will present this topic in Tokio from 09.07.2019 bis 12.07.2019.
In this paper, perceptual roughness performance of several vibrotactile stimuli on a touch display were compared and analyzed. The Purpose was to simplify induced vibration during the interaction between a finger and a texture because of two reasons. The one is that current haptic motors are not capable of driving complex tactile vibrations, and the second reason is that human sensory system might not perceive all the frequency content within the driven recorded induced vibration. The results showed that coarse textures require only simple sinusoids for rendering on a touch display which approves our study.
