The Chair of Acoustics and Haptics contributed to the InterNoise 2024 – Nantes, France!
The Chair of Acoustics and Haptics took part in the wonderful and prestigious conference InterNoise 2024, held in Nantes from August 25 to 29, 2024. This globally recognized event brought together leading experts, researchers, and industry professionals from around the world to explore the latest trends and developments across various fields of acoustics.
Under the leadership of Prof. Ercan Altinsoy, our team made an important contribution at the conference with the presentation of three research papers, each covering different and timely topics in acoustics and multi-modal interaction:
- "A Study on the Perception of Refrigerator Noise in Everyday Life": Dr. Serkan Atamer and Piotr Kosowski, in collaboration with Prof. Altinsoy, presented their research on the perception of refrigerator noise in daily life. The paper highlighted the ongoing "dB wars" in the refrigerator industry and emphasized the need of a new comparison framework for household appliance noise considering sound quality.
- "Annoyance Caused by Simultaneous Exposure to Noise and Seat Vibrations Inside a Mini Excavator: Multimodal Interaction and Effects of Changes in Low-Frequency Sound": Dipl.-Ing. Maria Mareen Maravich and Prof. Altinsoy shared their findings on the complex interaction between noise and vibration in commercial vehicles. Their research underscored the importance of considering both factors for the well-being of operators of these commercial vehicles.
- "Designing Effective Warning Sounds: Psychoacoustical Considerations": M. Sc. Berkay Kullukcu, Jin Wook Lee, Dr. Atamer, and Prof. Altinsoy presented insights into the psychoacoustic principles behind effective warning sound design, offering valuable perspectives for improving safety and user awareness in various applications.
In addition to presenting papers, our members played an integral role in organizing multiple areas and sessions during the conference. These sessions were well received, offering a platform for vibrant dialogue and collaboration among participants. We extend our sincere thanks to all the researchers and attendees who shared their valuable insights and actively contributed to the session discussions. AHA is grateful for the collective effort that made the event a success!
We are proud of our team's active participation and are excited to keep contributing to both the academic and professional communities in the future.
