Excursion to overhead line construction for students at the IEEH

On July 11, 2025, the students of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Maria Kosse's lecture "Advanced High Voltage Technology" were given the opportunity to get to know overhead line construction up close as part of an excursion to the Omexom Institute in Korbußen. After a brief introduction to Omexom's fields of activity, the team took the group on a tour of the extensive training grounds. The focus was on the practical handling of key work steps in overhead line construction. At several stations, the students had the opportunity to install overhead lines themselves under expert guidance, produce connectors and check their quality using thermographic measurements. A particular highlight of the excursion was the ascent of a practice pylon. Various ascent systems were presented and tried out directly. The excursion made it possible to apply theoretical content from the lecture directly in practice.
