+++ Focus on components for the energy system of tomorrow +++

Participants of the 32nd colloquium on high-voltage and systems engineering
The 32nd Colloquium of High Voltage and Systems Engineering took place in Dresden from June 2 to 4, 2025. Over 40 doctoral students from Darmstadt, Dresden, Ilmenau, Munich, Zittau and Stuttgart came together in the High Voltage Hall of the TUD Dresden University of Technology to discuss their research topics in high-voltage and high-current technology.
The lecture and poster sessions covered issues relating to insulation, conductor and contact systems for the components and equipment of the energy system of today and tomorrow. The focus was on insulating gases, solid insulating materials, partial discharges, ageing, switching and contacts as well as current carrying capacity.
The Chair of Components of Intelligent Energy Networks at TU Dresden was represented with the following technical contributions: Moritz Ullrich spoke on "Condition analysis of DC charging connectors in the field". Johanna Pietzonka presented her research results under the title "Partial Discharge Measurements at a Protrusion in XLPE under Composite Voltages of Alternating and Direct Voltage Components". Max Huter presented his poster on "Creating an FEM model to describe the contact behavior of clinch connections". Andrés Verdugo had also prepared a poster on "Developing and setting up a test rig to measure volume conductivity".
During the colloquium, the laboratories of the Chair of Components of Intelligent Energy Networks were also visited and current test rigs from the Chair's research were presented. The excursion to the Malter dam not only gave the participants an insight into the damming and flooding measures on the Rote Weißeritz, but also provided ample time for networking.
The IEEH is delighted to have hosted this event and would like to thank all participants for their contributions and the professional and personal exchange! We are already looking forward to the next colloquium in 2026 hosted by TU Darmstadt.
