Lecture Process Control Engineering 2
Information
Dear students,
in order to break the covid-19 contagion chains we will conduct our compulsory teaching in SoSe2021 completely digitally and virtually. Instructions and documents for self-learning as well as information on blended learning via videoconferencing can be found for this course on the OPAL platform under the link Lecture Prozessleittechnik 2. From Wednesday 14.4.2021, the teaching materials will be available there. However, you can already register for the course today. Good luck with your self-study and stay healthy.
Yours sincerely, Leon Urbas
Structure: L/E/P: 1/1/0
Period: Summer semester
Time: Wednesday, 11:10 Uhr - 12:40
Room: virtual (online)
Execution: Chair of Process Control Systems
(Prof. Dr.-Ing. L. Urbas, Dipl.-Ing. A. Klose)
Content
After an introduction to safety using process control technology, the basics of the new VDI/VDE 2180 and DIN EN 61511 “Functional Safety in the process industry” will be presented.
On the basis of the safety life cycle of a process plant the individual topics will be introduced in greater detail, whereby the first part focuses especially on the hazard and risk analyses. The focus of the second part will be the safety design. The methods of reliability analysis and calculation, like reliability block diagram and Markov, will investigated deeper. These methods are used to model asses the reliability of complex systems.
In the last part of the safety life cycle, measures in the industrial commission and operation, like function testes and repeat test, are dealt with.
The organization of safety life cycle is complex but should be resilient, therefore safety management and human reliability are considered from the point of view of resilience engineering.
Modern industrial communication will also be offered in a secure version. Due to this, problems of conventional digital bus systems are dealt with and safe bus systems are presented.
Goal
The students know the safety life cycle according to DIN EN 61511 “Functional safety: safety systems for the process industry” and have deep knowledge of hazard and risk analyses. They know methods of reliability analysis and calculation and apply them correctly. The students know the approaches of resilience engineering and they can describe the difference between a conventional and a safety bus system.
