Equipment
For hands-on examinations, the chair runs several laboratories.
The antenna laboratory and the microwave photonics laboratory are equipped with state-of-the-art measurement equipment. The antenna laboratory comprises of a near field and a far field scanner in an anechoic chamber. An outdoor measurement range is available for low frequency applications.
For numerical calculations of electromagnetic fields and system simulations, a workstation pool equipped with powerful software for modeling, optimization and verification of assemblies, antennas and systems is available.
Further laboratories are dedicated to researching innovative solutions in the area of optical communications. In these laboratories, novel ideas and theories are implemented and tested.
Graduate students focussing on RF engineering should become acquainted with state-of-the-art measurement equipment. To this end, a laboratory course in fiber optics technology ("Lichtwellenleitertechnik") is offered each winter semester. Students are also welcome as an addition to the chairs' work force as student assistants.
We also welcome co-operation with external partners. If you are interested in using our equipment, or if you need support in solving your RF engineering challenges, do not hesitate to contact us.
