Award for Control Engineering Practical Lab Course
The Association of Friends and Supporters of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering has awarded the teaching prize for the year 2020 to Dr.-Ing. Jan Winkler from the Institute of Control Theory (lead by Prof. Dr. Klaus Röbenack) for the Control Engineering Practical Lab Course.
The Institute for Control Theory offers the lab course in the degree programs Electrical Engineering (specialization area: automation, measurement and control), Mechatronics and Regnerative Energysystems.
Together with his team, Dr. Winkler continuously develops the lab course and adapts it to the changing requirements. In this way, students are specifically introduced to the solution of practical challenges in control engineering. The commitment in the Corona summer semester 2020 is to be emphasized, when the practical course had to be transferred to purely virtual operation in a relatively short time. In a Jupyter-Lab environment hosted on the institute's e-learning server, it was thus possible to provide students with an innovative lab experience with the necessary teaching content. The knowledge gained from this process is now flowing back into normal operation and fertilizing it.
