"Technology, Ethics, Gender" at the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering
The winter semester 2020/21 saw the launch of the innovative and interdisciplinary lecture series "Technology, Ethics, Gender" initiated and organized by Professor Cornelia Breitkopf. Four renowned speakers with expertise in medical ethics, gender studies and diversity in information systems shed light on exciting questions such as: What is the relationship between technology, ethics and diversity issues and how can we shape this relationship? What are the responsibilities of engineers in the development of new technologies and what does the future hold for us? How can we conduct technology assessment and involve society in our developments in the best possible way?
Answers to these and other questions were discussed in the lecture series using practical examples and recommendations for action. The speakers were:
