Producer / Designer - Immersive and Interactive Exhibitions
TU Dresden IXLAB (https://ixlab.io) seeks a Research Associate (E-13 TV-L) for science communication and exhibition design with a focus on using immersive and interactive media to communicate concepts in computer science, mathematics, human-technology interaction and AI.
Background. The newly founded TU Dresden Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Sciences (CIDS) is devoted to interdisciplinary research into the science, engineering, ethics and societal impact of digitization. Uniting seven research centers, research at CIDS includes high-performance computing, modelling and simulation, artificial intelligence and knowledge extraction, digitization and virtualization. Given the societal impact of these topics, public dialog, education and active participation are a central concern of the center. Towards this goal, CIDS is committed to the development of exhibitions, installations and events for communicating the science ongoing within the center.
Duties. As a member of a newly formed exhibitions team, you will be responsible for the conception, design and production of interactive and immersive exhibitions communicating ongoing research at CIDS to the general public, students and fellow scientists. The position is one of three new newly created roles, and you will work in close exchange with your team members in the TU Dresden Custody, the Chair for Technical Design, the Center for Humane Technology, and members of the DRESDEN-concept network.
The position will combine elements of research, design, art direction and project management. You will oversee the design and production of the interactive and immersive elements of the exhibition, as well as contribute to the overall exhibition conception and delivery. You will manage the delivery of the projects, working closely with the engineers, scientists, programmers, designers, artists involved.
Embedded within the TU Dresden Immersive Experience Lab (Jun. Prof. Immersive Media Design – Informatik Faculty), you will also work closely with IXLAB members to transfer the latest developments in interactive and immersive technologies into an exhibition context. You will keep informed with the latest developments in media technologies and digital exhibitions.
Selection Criteria. In addition to a University degree, preferably in the field of computer science or art and design, you will have experience in coordinating the production of immersive or interactive media or computer-generated imagery. You also have excellent knowledge of German or English - the confident use of both languages is desirable. Experience in exhibition conception and science communication as well as in working in interdisciplinary teams consisting of scientists, programmers and engineers, designers and artists is valuable. Additionally of interest are practical experience in the production of immersive or interactive media systems as well as demonstrable competencies in design and art. The ability to work in a team, strong communication and organizational skills as well as high motivation and initiative are essential for the success of the interactive exhibition.

Student Positions / Studentische Hilfskraft
IXLAB is seeking student assistants.
- Number of hours per week is flexible (up to a maximum of 20 per week), as is duration of contract.
- Work from home is possible, but proximity to Dresden is necessary.
- Working language of the lab is primarily English, but German is also fine.

We currently have opening positions for:
3D artists
We are seeking 3D artists (generalists, world modellers, technical artists) to create worlds, creatures and characters for our XR projects. Especially desirable skills and experience include:
- 3D modelling and texturing (e.g. Maya, Blender, Max...)
- Creating for real-time engines (e.g. Unreal or unity)
- Modelling from the real world (i.e. based on photos or photogrammetry)
Initial tasks include building photorealistic and stylised models of real world environments for virtual reality and online social 3D worlds.
Software Engineers
Relevant skills and experience include:
- Game engine development (Unreal or Unity)
- C++ or C#
- VR or AR development
- Computer vision and tracking systems
