Main Exam Period: Mon , Feb. 8, 2027 through Sat, Mar. 6, 2027

Module and Exam Registration Periods

Exam registration is conducted exclusively via SELMA

Regular module and exam registration period: December 14, 2026 – January 25, 2027
Assignment of the following exam types for the regular exam registration period:
- Written exams
- oral examinations => presentations/colloquium/presentation/oral exams
- research-based practical assignments
- Examinations conducted throughout the semester:
=> seminar papers/project work/internship log/exercise assignments (PVL)/prerequisite coursework (type not clearly specified)/internship report/project report/thesis/portfolio/complex assignments/term papers

Important Information Regarding Exam Registration

  • SELMA: is the leading exam management system for all computer science degree programs. Registration and admission via this portal are mandatory and a prerequisite for participating in any exam (including prerequisite exams)
    IMPORTANT: Module registration must be completed BEFORE exam registration. The exam will not be visible without module registration!
  • Via ticket ( email): Exam topics and examiners for the following modules/exams are submitted to the Computer Science Examination Office after exam registration has been completed via SELMA:
    - INF-INF-25-Ma-GB Major Course
    - INF-25-Ma-FP Research Project
    - INF-25-Ma-AFT Analysis of a Research Topic

Submission of Waiver Forms

  • The deadline for submitting a waiver is January 15, 2027
  • After this deadline, submitted waivers can still be processed, but automatic registration for the exam via the system cannot be guaranteed.
  • There is generally no entitlement to retroactive exam registration, even if processing is delayed until after the registration deadline due to late submission of the waiver form.

Registration Process in SELMA:
1. Module registration (does not apply if module registration has already been completed in previous
semesters—module registration is a one-time process)
2. Course registration (in SELMA = K numbers)—must always be completed, since
otherwise exam registration is not possible
3. Exam registration—course registration does not replace exam registration

Important: Check your exam registration after completing the registration process within the respective registration period!
  • If you have already added yourself to lists in OPAL during the lectures, this does NOT replace exam registration via SELMA.
  • If you encounter technical problems during online registration or are unable to register for an exam, please contact the Computer Science Examination Office via ticket within the respective registration period, attaching a full-screen screenshot.
  • Due to the large number of required elective modules, overlapping exam dates are unavoidable.
  • You can only register for an exam if you are enrolled in the respective degree program.

Registration for Language Courses and Language Exams

To enroll in language courses and the associated language exams, you must register in SELMA (notes and instructions).
In addition, you must register for the respective language modules and exams in SELMA.

Exam Withdrawal / Withdrawal from Exams

You may withdraw from exams online via SELMA without providing a reason within the following deadlines:

  • Written exam: 3 business days before the exam date
  • Oral exams: 3 business days before the exam date
  • Exams taken during the semester: January 25, 2027
  • Exams taken throughout the course of study and hardware practicum/hardware lab:
    No option to withdraw
  • Withdrawal due to illness
    In the event of withdrawal due to illness, the
    form certifying inability to take exams and
    Application for Withdrawal Due to Illness must be used.
    Both forms (Certificate of Inability to Take an Exam and Application for Withdrawal Due to Illness) must be submitted together as originals no later than 5 business days after the exam date and may be sent by mail or deposited in one of the available official mailboxes ordeadline mailboxes at TUD. The date of receipt stamped by TU Dresden determines compliance with the deadline. Submission via Ticket is not permitted.
  • Further details are governed by the Study and Examination Regulations for your degree program.
