About us

The chair of computer networks has been researching and teaching under professor Alexander Schill’s leadership for more than 30 years. In May 2023, Prof. Dr Matthias Wählisch succeeded him and has headed the new professorship "Distributed and Networked Systems" since then.

RoSI

Software with long life cycles is faced with continuously changing contexts. The concept of role modeling has been introduced in order to model context-related information, including the dynamic change of contexts.

Welcome to the Chair of Computer Networks

With more than 20 staff employed via state and third-party funds, we combine the expertise from research and education in one central location. Located in the third upper floor of the west wing of the Andreas-Pfitzmann building, all staff is bundled in one hallway. Our young and highly cooperative team is superbly embedded in research and teaching. Our excellent contacts in academia and industry enable us to work on highly topical and excellent level. This does not only fulfil our entitlement of an excellent university, but we are a leading force within. We are enrolled in several excelence clusters and we foster young academics at top level.
