Plenty funding opportunities at the German-Czech Future Fund
The German-Czech Future Fund was established in 1997 as part of the German-Czech Declaration with the aim of strengthening the development of trusting neighborly relations. Since then, the endowment fund has spent around 78.8 million euros to support over 14,000 German-Czech projects.
Shortly before the start of this summer, the Future Fund published calls for proposals for a wide range of funding opportunities, offering support for German-Czech cooperation projects in areas such as culture, publications, dialogue forums, social affairs, youth and schools, partnerships between municipalities and associations.
The following funding opportunities are now open for applications:
Call for proposals Chemnitz 2025
With Chemnitz as European Capital of Culture 2025, events will not only take place in Chemnitz, but also in 38 partner municipalities and in the entire region around the districts of Ústí nad Labem (Aussig) and Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad). A total of 250,000 euros is available for the call to implement projects for joint workshops, events or meetings. Submit your project ideas now.

German-Czech Year of Sport 2024
2024 is a year full of top international sporting events: first the European Ice Hockey Championships in May with an exhilarating victory for the Czech Republic, followed by the European Athletics Championships and now the European Football Championships. In addition, the Olympic Games will be held in Paris this summer, which you can experience in the German-Czech border region.
The German-Czech Future Fund and the Czech Olympic Committee have joined forces and prepared a varied cultural and sports program as part of the Olympic Festival in Most, where you can also try out various sports yourself. Would you like to inspire young people from both countries to take part in a training camp or meeting for joint sporting activities? Then take advantage of the special financial support available:
- Larger projects over EUR 5,000 can be applied for until June 30, 2024
- Projects with funding of up to EUR 5,000 can be submitted on an ongoing basis
- Implementation by the end of the year

Special call for proposals Kafka '24
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Franz Kafka's death, the German-Czech Future Fund is offering funding for projects that deal with the person and legacy of the German-speaking Prague writer. Submit your project application by June 30. Funding can cover up to 70% of the total costs.

Limits to progress? - Topic of the year 2024
How do new technologies such as virtual reality, autonomous driving and artificial intelligence affect our lives? What benefits and risks are associated with the use of these new technologies and what fundamental questions are raised about the relationship between humans and progress?
Funding of up to 70% of the total costs can be applied for at the end of each quarter until the end of 2024. Eligible for funding are projects that encourage joint discussions on this complex of topics on different levels such as education, art, civil society and economic level. Please discuss your project application with the German-Czech Future Fund in advance.

Special call for libraries - extension
The previous program for cooperation between public libraries in Germany and the Czech Republic was very well received. The aim of this special call for proposals is to bring together and network individual librarians, to exchange experiences and establish partnerships between larger or smaller regional libraries in both countries, to get in touch with science and research in the neighboring country, to get to know literature and authors from the neighboring country and to involve other cultural stakeholders in the German-Czech exchange.
Funding of up to 70% of the total costs can be applied for until the end of 2024.
