Korea & Germany – Advancing International Discourse in Research and Development

Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) visits the Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology (ILK)

October 8, 2024 – The Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology (ILK) at TU Dresden welcomed two senior research engineers, Dr. Kyung-Jung Hwang and Dr. Kyung-Wook Baek, from Hyundai Motor Company's Namyang R&D Center during their visit to Germany.
Together with Dipl.-Ing. Alexander Liebsch, Veit Würfel M. Sc., and Dipl.-Ing. Paul Hoffeins from ILK, the group engaged in in-depth discussions on forward-looking research and development topics. The focus was on future lightweight solutions and composite technologies for innovative mobility concepts. The visit also included a comprehensive tour of ILK, showcasing the latest advancements in lightweight technologies.
This meeting represents another important step toward strengthening German-Korean collaboration. It comes at a pivotal moment: starting in 2025, the Republic of Korea will join Horizon Europe, the European Union’s largest research and innovation funding program.
Korea’s participation in Horizon Europe unlocks unprecedented opportunities for direct cooperation between Korea, Germany, and other countries within the Horizon Europe network. Through joint research efforts, breakthrough technologies can be developed to promote sustainable and future-oriented mobility solutions.
