What is the FSR?
First of all, the most important thing: We as FSR are here for you! We are your first point of contact for questions and problems relating to anything to do with university. We give you advice and information from student to student - you can find out how to contact us under Contact .
But right from the start:
Gewählte und nichtgewählte Mitglieder des FSR
In Saxony, there is a legally prescribed, democratic representation of students within the structures of the university. This representation is essentially made up of Faculty Student Councils and the Student Council. At a university, there are several Faculty Student Councils, which are only responsible for certain degree programs. 24 Faculty Student Councils, FSR for short, exist at TU Dresden. The Student Council (StuRa) exists exactly once per university. It is made up of delegates from the Faculty Student Councils and deals with matters that are of concern to all students at a university.
An FSR has many tasks. The most important are the representation of students in university policy issues, appointments to university committees and advising and informing students. To a certain extent, an FSR is a representative body, information service provider and entertainer for students as well as an interface between students and professors.
The Faculty Student Council Mechanical Engineering represents the degree programs Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering and Natural Materials Technology, Material Science and Textile & Clothing Technology. This makes us the largest FSR at TU Dresden and responsible for over 6000 students - for you!
The FSR Mechanical Engineering has 25 elected members. You decide who these are in the university elections every winter semester. The members have voting rights in FSR matters. However, this does not mean that only these 25 students can participate. We are made up of elected members and many other students - if you feel like it, you can join us right away!
We try to keep you constantly informed about current developments at the faculty and, above all, about questions regarding your studies. To do this, we have this website and our forum bombentrichter.de. We try to collect as much information as possible - nevertheless, at a university it is vital that you actively inform yourself. The best way is to ask us directly via one of our channels or members of the FSR!
As a representative body, we are involved in many decisions in the faculty and try to achieve the best possible results within the scope of our possibilities. We try to solve all student problems in dialog with those responsible and are therefore in contact with many professors and employees. This gives you deep insights into the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering that students outside the FSR don't have!
Während der Erstsemestereinführung (ESE)
To fulfill our tasks, we organize many events that help you in many different ways. One example of this is the first semester orientation, a whole week full of individual events that introduce the new students to each other, to the university and to their studies. We also collect preparations for exams and have other offers for you - you can find out more under areas of work.
In order to make all of this possible, we can dispose of a small part of your semester fee (approximately €1 per student). This money is used to pay for our activities. Of course, members don't get any money - we work entirely on a voluntary basis, but our events, information materials and other costs are covered by this.
We hope we are doing a good job!
