First semester introduction 2025
Welcome to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Material Science and Process and Natural Materials Engineering at TU Dresden! We are delighted that you would like to study with us from the winter semester 2025/26. With us, you can look forward to an exciting and varied degree program that will prepare you for the future in the engineering industry.
To give you the perfect introduction to your studies and student life, we organize the first semester induction week every year. This takes place from October 6 to 10. It starts one week before the lectures and supports you with many different events at the start of your studies. Firstly, we will provide you with important information about the organization of your studies and show you around the campus. On the other hand, you can get to know your future fellow students and the city of Dresden.
On Saturday, 04.10.2025 before the ESE week, we invite you to a cozy games evening.

PROCESS (status 2025)
Wochenplan ESE 2025
The ESE really kicks off on Monday with the Mechanical Engineering Rally . You, the mechanical engineers, have to complete various tasks at many stations in the city throughout the day. This is followed on Tuesday by the UNI-Kompakt, where you will receive all the important organizational information. This is followed by a guided tour of the city for all new Dresdeners. In the evening, the Dresden student clubs organize their club tour. On Wednesday morning there will be a bike tour, which you can also use to sober up. Please bring your own bikes. If you don't have a bike, you can borrow a MOBIbike on this day. Please send us an email a few days before the bike tour. In the evening we will explore the bars and pubs of Neustadt together.
The matriculation ceremony will take place on Thursday.
On Friday, there is a compulsory information event for postgraduate students and the welcome event, after which we show you your future places of work on the campus tour and round off the day with a barbecue .
On Saturday, we offer a hike in Saxon Switzerland.

You have already arrived in Dresden and you can´t wait to meet your new fellow students?
Then you are warmly invited to our game night on October 4, 2025 at 6:30 PM, where you can get to know each other in a relaxed athmosphere with a drink and spend an evening full of new and interesting people with us.
In the room POT/13/U you can get to know each other while playing card- or boardgames and a cheap drink. Also you can go to room POT/351/U and play quiter games like werewolf in a quit athmosphere.
We have already prepared some board games for you, but you are also very welcome to bring your own snacks and games.
Our drinks this evening will be non alcoholic. Please bring some cash for them.

As a future Dresdener it is essential and excellent if you know something about the city to impress family, friends and future dates ("Dates" lol safe).
If you want to take part in the city tour, you can come directly to the HSZ forecourt after Uni-Kompakt. There we will split up into smaller groups and go to the canteen together to get to know each other a little better. Then we start our city tour at around 13:30. This will take about 2 hours.

Dear machine creatures!
Please meet in your respective group at 18:00 on the forecourt of the HSZ. The supervisors are already waiting for you there. Afterwards we will collectively head towards Neustadt (Albertplatz).
Departure!
For 4 hours, you and your group will visit three bars in Neustadt. In each bar you will get to know another facet of Dresden's unique pub culture. At the end, we'll round off the pub crawl under the Albert Bridge with a bit of flunky ball.
On the way you can get a few shots (Pfeffi or Kirsch) from your group leader.
In any case, you will need the participation fee of €2 in cash at the meeting point (HSZ) and the small shot glass that you already received at the MW rally. If you were too lattenstramm on the road the days before, you can buy one of the few remaining shot glasses for 1€. Participation in the event is not possible without the shot glass, so please remember that!
We are already looking forward to seeing you and the many pubs.

On October 8, 2025, we will meet at 11 a.m. at the main entrance of the Zeuner Building (George-Bähr-Straße 3c) and divide into roughly equal groups. Afterwards we will start our bike tour through Dresden together.
(For all those who do not have their own bike, there is the possibility to rent a Mobi-Bike once in the Nextbike app via a voucher, which you will receive on site, and use it for our tour).
Along the way, you will have the opportunity to chat with your new fellow students and get to know each other over a short break with a drink. This makes the tour perfect for those who have just arrived in Dresden as well as for those who already know Dresden.
Please remember to wear a helmet and bring enough water and clothing suitable for the weather.

Get to know the clubs and bars of the Studentenwerk on our Studi-Clubtour. Meet us on Tuesday, 07.10.2025 at 18:30 in front of the HSZ.
From there, we will go to the first clubs together in groups. The first shot will be taken care of, so please bring your shot glasses that you already got at the rally.

Remember to bring enough water for the day and wear clothes that can get a bit dirty. (Please also pay attention to the weather forecast!)
There will be a lunch break where you can get food or take your own food with you.

To help you find your way around campus straight away, we will show you all the important places for your timetable. Together we will explore your lecture rooms and study locations so that you can get started straight away and not get lost on the large campus.
All groups start in front of the HSZ HSZ. So look forward to fun facts about the buildings and a tip or two about studying.
Afterwards (around 3:30 p.m.) there will be a relaxed barbecue on the meadow at the Fritz-Förster-BauFritz-Foerster-Bau. Come along, let's end the week in a relaxed atmosphere with a tasty beer and delicious grilled food and get to know new people. Please bring cash for food and drinks.

You aren´t afraid to perform your favorite songs in front of (still) strangers? Then the karaoke night is just right for you! Come on October 4th, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. to room POT/106/U and show everyone what you've got.
At the same time as the karaoke night, our game night will also take place, where you can buy non-alcoholic drinks for a small amount of money. So be sure to bring some cash with you.
Of course, you can also switch between the two events, that's no problem.
