C2: How public opinion and the media view future mobility scenarios
This project answers the question of which mobility scenarios or their components (such as forms of e-mobility and autonomous driving) are discussed in the public sphere and how these scenarios or components are evaluated and contextualized by frames. Frames are understood to be presentation and narrative schemas that are defined, for example, by certain causes, consequences, or circumstances and that at least imply the evaluation of an option.
As a central object of analysis, the current journalistic coverage of the mass media is examined concerning current and future developments of mobility scenarios. Secondly, non-journalistic discourses on mobility scenarios on the internet, in which private individuals and interest groups express themselves, are examined. As a third component, public opinion is collected on different mobility scenarios, including the structure of topics, ratings, and frames that prevail in society.
This will allow for the common scenario development, the core of this cluster, to be aligned with scenarios that are discussed in the public sphere.
