Application of knowledge acquired in the basic course is at the forefront of further education in the specialised studies. Imparted specialist knowledge is deepened through the preparation of constructive assignments papers. Field placements in the teaching and experimental power plant of the "Centre for Energy Technology" allow for deep consolidation of acquired knowledge and promote the development of the overall understanding of technical problems and their solutions. These are the prerequisites for qualification work.

Practical training
Lectures, seminars and practical training – this is daily life at a university and indispensable for the acquisition of knowledge. Its application is the goal of all efforts. Therefore, the seventh semester, when an interdisciplinary assignment paper has to be prepared in the framework of an internship, is a first challenge for all full-time students. They accomplish engineering tasks in companies and institutions of the industrial branch and can demonstrate that the efforts of the studies have paid off. This sense of successful achievement is a powerful motivator for the final period of study. In the major assignment paper, being some kind of "rehearsal" for the diploma thesis, a technical research question is answered for the first time mostly independently, and results are documented and presented / defended. The studies conclude with the acquisition of the first academic degree "Diplomingenieur" or a similar title after the successful defence of the diploma thesis, which takes place at the chair or a company.
All these qualification assignments are accompanied by our colleagues at the chair and are largely connected to ongoing research projects.
