Hot-stage microscope
A hot-stage microscope, consisting of a Linkam DSC-600 heated stage and a Nikon Eclipse LV100D microscope, is available at the Chair. The use of simultaneous calorimetric and optical analysis with DSC and light microscopy enables further conclusions to be drawn about phase compositions of the sample and the kinetics of phase transformations. The DSC measuring cell is cooled with liquid nitrogen
Examination options
- Temperature range -190 °C to 600 °C
- Heating and cooling rates 0.01 K/min to 130 K/min
- Investigation of phase transformation and determination of the transformation enthalpy
- Investigation of the kinetics of isothermal and non-isothermal phase transformations
- Observation of the sample with transmitted light and reflected light
- 50x or 100x magnification
