Efficient power technologies and systems

The competencies of the partners are the application of "Renewable energy sources" with the use of materials, machines and systems that ensure the highest "energy efficiency". Environmentally friendly and efficient operation of "Fossil power plants" and plant safety of "Nuclear power plants" are further focal points of their investigations. They have extensive skills in working on projects on "Performance of Networks and Integration of Renewable Energies", taking into account storage and combined heat and power. The "Energy refurbishment of buildings" is another competence.

Members

The center consists of five areas, which are supervised and used by each of a professor from a total of three institutes. These are the chairs of Thermal Power Machinery and Plants, the chair of H Hydrogen Technology and Nuclear Power Engineering and the chair of Building Energy Systems and Heat Supply (Institute of Power Engineering). Also includes the Chair of of Turbomachinery and Jet Propulsion (Institute of Fluid Mechanics) and the Chair of Energy Process Engineering (Department of Process Engineering and Environmental Technology) to do so.

CET-Lab

The central technical center of the Center for Energy Technology is a test and laboratory building newly opened in 2010 on the site of the old power plant and consists of five test areas. It includes the first experimental area {A} in the existing building Pauerbau, the training nuclear reactor AKR-2. Other areas are {V} -Energy Process and Fuel Engineering, {K} Educational and Experimental Power Station, {T} Turbomachinery Research Fields, and {R} -Efficient Energy Use, Renewable Energy.

Centre for Energy Technology

Energy research is a scientific field of high priority in the university. The Centre for Energy Technology (CET) of the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering represents the platform for R&D networking and diversified academic studies in the energy sector. Research is focused on energy technologies and integrated energy systems. The central lab, which was funded by the EC and the Federal State of Saxony provides an excellent technical infrastructure for praxis-oriented education and R&D.
