Department of Primary and Forming Technology (U²T)
Head of the department: Dipl.-Ing. Christina Guilleaume
The department deals with the processes of the main groups of primary forming and forming in the area of teaching and research. This includes the various processes with their specifics, the tools required and the plant technology used.
Overview of the teaching, research and work areas
The central scientific focus of the U2T department lies in the fundamental development and combination of new manufacturing processes, process chains as well as measurement and calculation methods for the property-oriented production of components and assemblies. Experimental and numerical process analyses are used to describe and analyze the forming processes and the resulting component properties.
The research work of the working group focuses on
Process and tool development for sheet metal forming
- Process and tool development in the field of sheet metal forming with regard to extending the forming limits and setting optimum properties during operation through the targeted manner of using instabilities, thermal process control and process integration as well as the use of hybrid material composites.
Process development for forging
- Process development in the field of forging with regard to the process integration of forming-joining joints of conventional and hybrid materials as well as the adjustment of (semi-finished) properties in a targeted manner
Property characterization and complementary modelling and measurement technology
- Property characterization and complementary modelling and measurement technology with a focus on improving the mapping accuracy of numerical process design. This is made possible by the development of efficient methods for characterization, parameter identification and modeling of complex flow behavior
Further information and overviews are also available in the TU Dresden Research Information System.
