Adhesive bonding technology as a universal joining process is increasingly conquering new areas of application, including those that were unthinkable a long time ago, e.g. under extreme environmental conditions in the maritime industry. The FTM team, represented by Prof. Hans Christian Schmale and Dr. Christian Mathiszik, together with 13 other authors from TU Dresden, the University of Paderborn and the University of Rostock, have analyzed the current state of science and research on the corrosion behavior of bonded metallic joints in the maritime environment and developed new research needs for future research projects.
