Tool manufacturing by sheet packetizing is a new methode for a quick manufacturing of prototype tools. In contrast to other generating processes, we have, here, an open process chain which can be modified with respect to the component or the stress. The size of the generated tools is not limitated. The numerous varieties require a profound knowledge about different process steps and a continuous data transfer.
Within the framework of the Melato project, companies and research groups developed in close cooperation, the system engineering and technological basics for the automatic manufacturing of such tools. The whole process chain was qualified beginning with cutting, packetizing, joining, up to post-treating and post-treating of sheet packages. At the same time we developed system engineering components and a marketable system unit for an automatic production. As a result we can offer either single components and software modules to be integrated into already existing systems or a complete new system unit. Thus we can adopt the results to the customer`s requirements. The researches meet especially the demands of the toolmaking industry. But nevertheless, the results can be tranfered to any other industrial branches such as the proto-type and small batch production of components for the vehicle- and engine construction.
