Promotion Martha Kalina
Martha Luise Kalina has successfully defended her dissertation on "Phase-field modeling of fatigue fracture". Her thesis deals with the modeling of cracks caused by fatigue stress, such as those that occur in aircraft fuselages. In her defense presentation, she impressively demonstrated how the phase field model used can now represent residual stresses, anisotropy and plasticity, but also clearly showed the limitations of the model. The reviewers particularly emphasized how extensively and thoroughly Ms. Kalina compared existing models.
In good tradition, she will be wearing a doctoral hat after the defense, which was lovingly handcrafted by the Chair's team.
Our warmest congratulations!
