5th Mixing meets Reality – A Recap
Participants in the "Mixing Meets Reality" Workshop
From October 1st to 2nd, we, the Chair of Chemical Process Engineering, welcomed young researchers from Germany and Austria to the “5th Mixing meets Reality Workshop”. The participants engaged with a wide range of topics.
The event opened with a workshop on "AI Use for Research Data Management and Literature Research". Taking the participants' prior experience into account, practical guidance was developed and various tools were tested. This offered the opportunity to gain a first impression of the strengths and weaknesses of different AI tools. In the afternoon, the participants had the chance to get a picture of the diverse research topics and opportunities at our chair and to engage directly in exchange with colleagues on site. The first workshop day concluded with presentations by the participants on their research topics in the field of single-phase and multiphase phenomena. The remainder of the afternoon was entirely dedicated to networking – rounded off by a city tour of Dresden followed by a joint dinner.
On the second day, the group headed to the HZDR, where the Process Diagnostics Department of the Institute of Fluid Dynamics welcomed us. Thanks to the comprehensive laboratory tour provided by the colleagues, the participants gained an intensive insight into the highly specialized yet application-oriented measurement methods for single-phase and multiphase flows. In the afternoon, further presentations by the participants followed, combined with an always open and intensive scientific exchange.
We would like to sincerely thank everyone involved for their committed support of the workshop and hope that future collaborations will emerge from the scientific impulses gained. Special thanks go to the DECHEMA working party “Mixing” for its financial support and to the HZDR for the opportunity to take a tour of the laboratories.
