CaviPRO Secondment at Paques completed
Over the past few months, Gašper Bizjan conducted a secondment at Paques (https://www.paquesglobal.com/), which has now been successfully completed. During this period, he investigated the potential integration of hydrodynamic cavitation into industrial wastewater treatment processes.
As part of his PhD within the CaviPRO project (https://www.cavipro.eu/) , the objective of the secondment was to evaluate cavitation as a pre-treatment step prior to anaerobic digestion, with a focus on the degradation of inhibitory and recalcitrant compounds in wastewater streams.
During his stay, a lab-scale hydrodynamic cavitation test stand was designed and commissioned. 3D-printed cavitation reactors were integrated into the system, and initial experimental campaigns were conducted using synthetic wastewater.
The secondment was made possible through the collaboration with the Paques team and Dr. Erik van Zessen. It represents an important step toward transferring fundamental cavitation research into industrial wastewater applications.
