Christopher Stäglich Receives the 2026 BASF Award

On June 25, 2026, Christopher Stäglich was one of three students to receive the 2026 BASF Award for his outstanding thesis on “Simulation-Based Agitator Optimization in Batch Reactors.” On the one hand, the thesis focused on optimization studies of chemical reactors using steady-state and transient flow simulations. On the other hand, Mr. Stäglich also demonstrated the potential of AI-assisted approaches in such studies. This combination of scientific methodology and industrial application impressed the award committee, consisting of BASF representatives and faculty members from TU Dresden.
The award ceremony took place for the first time at the BASF site in Schwarzheide. Each of the winning projects received a prize of 1,000 euros. The awards recognize scientific work addressing the topics of sustainability, the circular economy, and digitalization. The goal is to raise the profile of practice-oriented research and to promote exchange between academia and industry. Since 2020, BASF InfraService & Solutions Lausitz GmbH has annually honored projects that stand out for their innovative approaches and high relevance.
