Dr.-Ing. Sara Marchini receives the Dr. Wilhelmy VDI Prize 2025
Dr.-Ing. Sara Marchini has once again received an award for her outstanding dissertation. On September 27, 2025, she received the Dr. Wilhelmy VDI Prize at the Congress of Women in Engineering - the third award for her doctorate.
In her thesis, Dr.-Ing. Sara Marchini developed a new method for the contactless determination of hydrodynamic parameters in gas-liquid reactors. The gas flow modulation technique enables precise measurement of axial gas dispersion and thus provides a valuable basis for the energy-efficient design of chemical processes.
The jury particularly praised the combination of excellent basic research, industrial relevance and the contribution to conserving resources in process engineering. Her work is a "forward-looking contribution to Germany as a technology location".

The award ceremony took place at the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum in Dresden and was hosted by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Burghilde Wieneke-Toutaoui. The prize is endowed with 3,000 euros and is awarded every two years by the VDI together with the Dr. Wilhelmy Foundation.
Dr.-Ing. Sara Marchini had previously been awarded the Gisela and Erwin Sick Prize for Metrology and the Manfred Hirschvogel Prize, a remarkable success that underlines the importance of her research!
Congratulations on this award, Sara!
