Excursion to the Wacker Chemie AG plant in Nünchritz

At the end of the summer semester on 09.07.2025, Dresden process engineering students from various semesters were able to get to know the Nünchritz site of Wacker Chemie AG. During a varied excursion program, the students learned about Erik Schmidt's day-to-day work as a support engineer and career opportunities for chemical engineers and process engineers. Michael Zickmann explained the technical processes for the production of silanes, silicones and polycrystalline silicon and the wide range of applications for the products. The factory tour of the entire site and the tours of the facilities for the Müller-Rochow process and subsequent thermal product separation as well as the hydrolysis and polymerization units were particularly impressive. A big thank you goes to Vanessa Dietze and her colleagues for organizing the plant visit and the exciting insights and impressions.
