Award for Research- and Practice-Oriented Teaching Presented to Dr. Sara Marchini
Dr. Sara Marchini was awarded the Prize for Research- and Practice-Oriented Teaching by the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering at TUD Dresden University of Technology. The teaching award is presented based on nominations by students and recognizes exceptional dedication and innovative approaches to university teaching.
In their statement, the representatives of the Faculty Student Council particularly highlighted Dr. Marchini’s interactive teaching approach and the dedicated and warm manner in which she interacts with students. The award confirms her approach of designing teaching as an active learning process and supporting students in developing both subject-specific competencies and independent thinking.
A significant part of these teaching concepts was developed as part of the InnoLAB project, in which innovative teaching methods and interactive learning materials are developed and integrated into courses. The award from the students demonstrates that these concepts make a lasting contribution to a successful learning environment.
“Knowledge is available at any time today. Good university teaching therefore means far more than simply conveying content. It consists of guiding, challenging, and motivating students, as well as creating learning spaces where they can develop both professionally and personally,” said Dr. Marchini. “I am convinced that excellent teaching deserves just as much creativity, care, and dedication as excellent research.”
