Groundbreaking ceremony for CircEcon research campus
On June 11, 2025, the TUD Dresden University of Technology, the Chemnitz University of Technology and the Freiberg University of Mining and Technology, together with the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, gave the symbolic starting signal for the establishment of the "Green Circular Economy" (CircEcon) research campus at the "Schwarze Pumpe" industrial park near Spreetal.
The Chair of Chemical Process Engineering is significantly involved in the areas of solvolysis and synthesis.
The aim of the jointly initiated campus is to develop and implement a greenhouse gas-neutral circular economy. The focus is on innovative technologies and processes for the sustainable use of resources and the significant reduction of CO₂ emissions.
The Schwarze Pumpe Industrial Park was chosen as a location that offers ideal conditions for application-oriented research and close cooperation with industry thanks to its industrial infrastructure and location.
CircEcon is also an important driver of structural change in Lusatia - particularly in the context of the coal phase-out - and supports the transition to a climate-friendly, future-oriented economic structure.
