Unconventional Reactors: CVT presents poster contribution at UCRA4 2026

From 24 to 26 June 2026, UCRA4 – the Fourth International Conference on Unconventional Catalysis, Reactors and Applications – took place in Mariehamn, Finland. The conference brought together international researchers working on novel catalysis concepts, innovative reactor structures, and process intensification technologies.

The Chair of Chemical Process Engineering participated with a poster contribution entitled “Binary particle wetting and backmixing in an Archimedes packed bed reactor with helical tube coil”. The poster presented a novel reactor concept for gas-liquid-catalyst systems. Based on alternating gas and liquid segments, the concept enables near plug-flow behaviour with low backmixing. The contribution introduced a geometric model and tracer studies that allow flow rate, residence time, and mixing behaviour to be described quantitatively.

In addition to scientific exchange on topics such as structured catalysts, micro- and millireactors, electrification, plasma and microwave technologies, as well as new approaches in the context of climate and resource protection, UCRA4 provided numerous impulses for future research activities.
