Brief Description
TU Dresden is involved in work package 3 of the project which targets the development of reliable joining approaches for the SiC/SiC cladding material concepts
Important goals of the work package are the selection of appropriate joining materials as well as the development of reliable joining technologies for SiC/SiC composite clads. The investigations include the validation of the joint reliability by dedicated testing activities that will compare the joint properties with the requirements of the cladding material specification established at the project outset. At the end of the project a reliable testing approach for the determination of the shear strength of SiC/SiC joints should be established.
Inside work package 3 TU Dresden will assess the performance of as‐produced SiC/SiC-joints and also of joints exposed to water/steam and ion/proton irradiation for a better understanding of the in‐service degradation mechanisms of high‐quality joints.
