Studying at the Chair of Powder Metallurgy

Our Institute is one of the few German universities to offer comprehensive training in the field of powder metallurgy. Details of the degree program can be found here. This provides students with an excellent foundation for their future career. Students learn about the entire powder metallurgy production chain, from powder production and preparation to shaping and sintering. A broad insight into the industrially important materials produced by powder metallurgy is provided. The sintering materials lecture will give you an insight into special material groups, such as cellular metallic materials, hard metals, soft magnetic materials and diamond tools, and you will learn about modern powder-based additive manufacturing processes. You will learn about processes such as powder injection molding, hot isostatic pressing, spark plasma sintering and hard metal production. Further specialization options are available by attending lectures on thermophysical methods / high-temperature materials and materials in energy technology.
