Research Fields

The Chair of Material Engineering undertakes mostly research on metallic and intermetallic materials, with and without a coating, which are used in a variety of technical applications. As the central point the research often focuses on the relevant connections between the material, its production process and the ensuing material and part properties.
Current research projects

The research projects of the Chair of Material Engineering are orientated towards basic material science research as well as towards application related themes. Most of the projects are funded by public money and are cooperative projects with partners from research and industry. In addition, the expertise of the chair is put to use in bilateral research projects with industry, in large firms and also middle and small sized firms.
Publica­tions

The research results of the chair are regularly published in professional journals, presented in international conferences and published in the corresponding conference publication. In addition, many internal research reports are written in cooperation with industry.

Research

A number of knowledge driven research projects funded by the German Research Association (DFG) are supplemented by innovation orientated co-operations with partners from science and industry. Bilateral research co-operations with regional and superregional industries complete the spectrum of research projects. The research results find uses in various industry branches, e.g. aerospace, electrical engineering, automobile, train and medical.
