Artist duo „Mailand / Innenhof“ inside the wind tunnel
„Also schrie Wurst-Achim“
In August 2024, the Leizig artist duo "Mailand / Innenhof" will be exhibiting their new project "So Wurst-Achim screamed". Five performative interventions were realized and recorded at different locations. They are an experimental attempt to aesthetically express processes of social alienation and objectification. One of the performances took place at 115 km/h in the TU Dresden wind tunnel and will also be shown in the exhibition. All members of the university are cordially invited to attend the opening.

More about the project
In "So Wurst-Achim screamed", the gesture of screaming is used performatively. Selected texts are lifted out of their original contexts of meaning and placed in new locations. By means of this montage technique, the seemingly cemented surface of meaning of society is broken up in a productive way and new connections behind the seemingly already familiar are hinted at: The fan block of a Red Bull Leipzig soccer match is confronted with the shouting of paragraphs of the German Civil Code, a gully in Leipzig city center is confronted with the figures of a cost financing plan for an art project, goods in a supermarket are shouted at with their own labels and ingredients, the nature of Saxon Switzerland gets to hear lines from the Jungle Book at the top of its voice and finally, in the wind tunnel at TU Dresden, the lyrics of the song "Lohn isch da" by southern German comedy luminary Antoine Burtz are shouted at the roaring wind. The continuity of the content of these actions lies in the focus on the bourgeois commodity form that is inscribed in all these social spheres. This also explains the choice of the supermarket as the project's exhibition venue: this is where people and goods come face to face on an everyday basis.
Mailand / Innenhof is the artistic collaboration between Günther Mailand (*1988 Ludwigsburg, lives and works in Leipzig) and Hans Innenhof (*1989 Augsburg, lives and works in Leipzig) that began in 2015. By means of actions and interventions in public space, the duo operates at the interface between visual and performing arts. Leaving the narrower context of art can be just as much a means as explicitly playing with the inner rules of the latter. They are particularly interested in artistic questions about political economy, social contradictions and aesthetics in capitalism.
